Digitization of the Permanent Collection

In June 2010 the Ackland received an Institute for Museum and Library Sciences: Museums for America grant to support a three-year initiative to create a complete digital archive of the Museum’s permanent collection. This funding allowed the museum to build a digital photography studio, to standardize its existing digital files, and to complete the digitization of the entire collection. The images created will be used in conjunction with the Museum’s collection management database, The Museum System (TMS), and in its online collections search. In addition, the Ackland is collaborating with ARTstor to have all collections images on their website, www.artstor.org, as well.
