At the Ackland, our interactive tours are designed to integrate the arts across disciplines, supporting the Common Core and North Carolina Essential Standards.
Located on the edge of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, the Ackland Art Museum’s encyclopedic collection includes works of art from across the globe that span over 4,000 years of human creativity. Whether you are teaching about North Carolina or world history, natural sciences or writing, the Ackland’s collection and school tours support and extend classroom learning through observation, creative thinking, and personal reflection.
“Sometimes museums can seem very intimidating to students (and adults) and so it is nice to see art activities and lessons presented in a very accessible and thought-provoking way. The Ackland does a great job of this.” —Middle School Teacher, Wake County Public School System
