19 November, 12:00–1:00 PM - Register here!
Stephen J. Fletcher (UNC-Chapel Hill, Photographic Archivist at the North Carolina Collection)
The North Carolina Collection Photographic Archives (NCCPA) in UNC’s Wilson Special Collections Library comprises an estimated 1.5 million photographic items collected over decades. Similar to the Ackland, NCCPA holdings range from daguerreotypes to born-digital photographs–but a single collection can contain tens or even hundreds of thousands of negatives, prints and color slides. Stephen J. Fletcher, North Carolina Collection Photographic Archivist, will compare and contrast collecting for the NCPPA to the Ackland’s exhibition PhotoVision: Selections from a Decade of Collecting. With luck, a “daisy chain” of images between these two university treasures will emerge.
Dr. John Bowles giving an Art For Lunch talk at the Ackland.
Art For Lunch is supported in part by the generosity of Drs. Leena and Sheldon Peck. The fall 2014 series of Art For Lunch talks is made possible by Jason’s Deli.
