Free and Open for Possibilities
ART& is an innovative project centered on art and community. The flexible ART& space is available for visitors make the museum their own—whether they want a date spot, a place to gather and converse with friends and classmates, or a quiet spot for a cup of coffee. (Yes, that does say “coffee.” Read on!)

Programs in ART&
A dedicated section of the Ackland Art Museum, ART& enables a wide range of art-centered programs, from film screenings and performances to talks and hands-on art making. See the full list of programs.

Site-Specific Art
The main ART& gallery is the site of three consecutive site-specific commissions by prominent area artists Derek Toomes, Heather Gordon, and Stacy Lynn Waddell.

Extended Hours
Extended evening hours allow community members to more easily enjoy the rich variety of programs and specially-commissioned artwork that ART& offers.
Beginning Friday, 19 August 2016, the Museum’s hours will be:

Wednesday 10:00 AM9:00 PM
Thursday 10:00 AM9:00 PM
2nd Fridays of the month 10:00 AM9:00 PM
All other Fridays 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 PM

ART& is organized by Allison Portnow Lathrop, Public Programs Manager, assisted by Lauren Turner, Assistant Curator for the Collection, Ackland Art Museum.
