Students

Student Friends of the Ackland (SFA) seeks to provide experiences that spark insight into ourselves, each other, and the world through social and educational programs and events. Founded in 2006, SFA is integral to engaging students across the UNC-Chapel Hill campus in the arts! From artist-led workshops to live dance performances, SFA is an opportunity to connect, collaborate and create with the Ackland.

SFA is sponsored by the Ackland Art Museum, a non-profit, academic unit of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Established in 1958, the Ackland Art Museum houses an encyclopedic collection of approximately 18,000 works of art and supports a wide range of exhibitions and public programs designed to engage campus and community.

Students are at the heart of what we do, inspiring us to look close and think far.
